Lyrics: Our Little Wounded Angel

by Joy Saunders Lundberg

Sometimes something happens
And it’s nothing you can see,
A feeling deep within your soul
Saying this was meant to be.
That’s the way it happened
When we saw your tiny smile.
We held you in our arms and knew
That you should be our child.

(Chorus)
Our little wounded angel
Sent from God above,
You came into our lives and brought
A special kind of love.

We knew this tender duty
Would bind our hearts to yours.
And through this love we found that we
Had opened Heaven’s doors.

Each new day has taught us
Of our need to look beyond
The limits that may bind you now
To a day when they’ll be gone.

Though we sometimes struggle,
Just to meet each day’s demands,
We somehow feel that we are blessed
To be God’s heart and hands.

(Repeat chorus)

Like the summer showers
Gentle tears will sometimes come,
But often they are followed by
Thoughts of what you might become.
Then we see more clearly
That our love has been the key
In helping you to grow in ways
Some thought would never be.

(Repeat chorus)
